Darkened copper belongs on piping, boilers, cartridge cases and old hardware, and it is precisely that tone which the acrylic shade Lifecolor Darkened Copper carries.

Copper does not stay pink and shiny for long in the air. Within a few weeks it darkens into a brown-red tone, and only after years does it shift toward a green patina. Darkened Copper from the Lifecolor acrylic range is aimed, as its name says, at precisely that middle phase: a copper part that is no longer new but is not green yet.
The most common mistake is to apply copper as a uniform area. A real copper part has an uneven tone: darker in the recesses, markedly lighter in the places that someone touches daily or that a chain slides over. Lay the area down, let it dry and only then lighten the edges and the crests at points.
A greenish patina is added only at the very end and only into the corners, never over the whole surface. Patina is the mark of a neglected part, not of every piece of copper.
On freshly machined copper surfaces and on small items that someone polishes regularly. There it makes sense to add a glossy metal tone on a small patch and to leave the whole surrounding area in the subdued shade. The contrast between dark and glossy copper will do more for the impression of metal than a sparkle over the whole part.
For builders of steam machinery, ship engine rooms, artillery and dioramas with metal details.
Use in a ventilated area, close the container carefully and store out of the reach of children.
