A metallic acrylic paint in a dark aluminum shade from the Lifecolor metallic range, in a bottle with a volume of twenty-two milliliters. Darker aluminum is used on models where an area is not meant to shine like new: on worn panels, on the places around exhausts and on parts that have oxidized for a long time. Paired with the lighter aluminum of the same range, individual panels can be told apart on a metal aircraft, which is the key trick with a bare metal surface.
Shake the bottle especially thoroughly and repeatedly during the work as well, as the metallic pigment settles to the bottom faster than an ordinary one. Metallic shades come out on a smooth base, so level and degrease the surface beforehand. Apply them only at the end of the build, because they overspray badly and masking tape pulls the metal surface off them. To tell panels apart, spray thin coats and rather mask the individual fields beforehand than repaint them afterwards.
