UA841 - Viola Satin

Viola Satin - Lifecolor acrylic paint

Viola Satin is an acrylic modeling paint from Lifecolor. The Italian viola means purple, so this is one of the few strongly purple tones that appear in modeling palettes. The word Satin in the name sets the degree of sheen and corresponds to a satin surface. The shade is part of a continuous range aimed at the livery of rolling stock, that is of passenger and freight cars and their fittings.

Use

• In railroad liveries purple appears in details and stripes rather than over whole surfaces.
• It also works as an additive in custom mixes, where it shifts blue or red toward a cooler tone.
• On dioramas it can be used for shadows and color undertones, where pure black would look too harsh.
• The satin surface keeps a saturated shade even after drying on small parts.

Who the paint is for

The paint will please modelers who mix their own shades and want a clean purple in the palette without having to build it from several colors. It finds use in railroad subjects, on dioramas and on figures, where purple serves as a secondary tone. Since the name does not determine a particular vehicle or period, choose by the color itself and by your own subject.
