Two-part high gloss varnish: 60 ml of varnish, 60 ml of thinner, a hardener and two measuring syringes. The mixing ratio of varnish to hardener is three to one.
Responsibility details are not available.
Most gloss varnishes from a bottle harden simply as the solvent evaporates. This one works differently: before application it is mixed with a hardener in a ratio of three parts to one, and only the reaction of the two components creates the final surface. The difference can be felt by hand and seen by eye: the coat is harder, more resistant to rubbing, and the gloss is deeper, so it comes close to what is expected of a varnish on a car body rather than on a model.
The syringes are not a small extra. The three to one ratio cannot be hit by eye and a mistake shows up with a delay: the surface stays soft or tacky for hours and nothing but removing the whole coat will save it.
Mix only the amount you are going to use straight away, because a mixed batch has a limited pot life and the remainder in the cup cannot be used later. The surface underneath should be smooth and free of grease from fingers. It is better applied in two lighter passes than in one heavy one, which tends to run at the edges. Before applying decals the coat needs to cure properly, not just dry to the touch.
Two more things are worth observing. First, ventilation and respiratory protection, because the hardener releases considerably more aggressive fumes than water-thinnable products. Second, flushing the airbrush out immediately once the work is done: as soon as the mixture hardens in the nozzle, no solvent will deal with it any more.
