This is a plastic kit from the Japanese brand Bandai, from the group of models inspired by the Gundam world. Bandai builds in what is called the snap-fit way: the individual parts are colored already in the plastic and join by simply snapping into each other, without glue. Assembly is therefore within reach even of a modeler who has no modeling chemicals at home, and the finished robot is color-separated as soon as it comes off the sprues. Check the actual contents of the package, the number of parts and the height of the built model on the box.
Gundam is a Japanese science fiction brand whose heroes are piloted combat robots. Models from this family have a characteristic build: a massive torso, prominent shoulders, a head with a visor and armament carried in the hands or on the back. The color division tends to be high in contrast, and that is exactly what suits kits with pre-colored parts: the silhouette reads even if the model never meets a brush.
Separate the parts with nippers in two stages: make the first cut well away from the part, and only with the second level the rest of the gate. That saves you whitened plastic and nicked edges. A small stub is finished off with a sharp scalpel and fine abrasive paper or a polisher. Build subassembly by subassembly (legs, torso, arms, head) and keep checking whether the joints fit. Anyone who wants to go further can happily paint the model: degrease the surface, apply a thin primer suited to smooth plastic and spray the paint in several light coats. Picking out the engraved lines and a final matte or semi-gloss varnish will raise even a part that was originally only snapped into place.
The model is built by snapping the parts together; glue is not needed for assembly. Paints, varnishes and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
