Window, door and hatch frames, second selection from the maker Aber. A photo-etched metal set of further patterns of frames in several sizes for ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set from the Polish maker Aber for ship models. It holds the frames of windows, doors and hatches in several sizes. The designation second selection means that this is a further set of patterns complementing the first selection; it is neither a grade of quality nor a poorer execution. The two sets can be combined and together they cover a wider range of the shapes that appear on ship superstructures. It is not a kit of a ship but a detail accessory.
Superstructures and deck structures are in reality studded with windows, doors and hatches. Every frame has a depth of its own and casts a sharp shadow, which injected plastic manages only by a suggested engraved line. A photo-etched frame really creates that relief and the model suddenly looks correct in scale. The patterns are prepared in several sizes, so the set serves across the usual ship scales, not only on one hull.
Separate the thin frames with a sharp scalpel on a hard support, never by twisting. Mark the layout out in advance with a soft pencil and draw a guideline for regular rows of windows, because an uneven row is unmissable on a finished model. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a pin, not straight from the tube, or else the glue will run down the wall. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and apply a metal primer; the final effect is completed by a dark wash flowed into the gap between the frame and the wall of the superstructure.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
