DSPIAE XPB-10 Dawning is a tungsten steel scriber 1.0 mm wide. It makes a wide gap where the division of panels is meant to be pronounced.
Responsibility details are not available.
A tungsten steel scriber from the Dawning range, in the version 1.0 mm wide. This is a modeling tool, neither a kit nor a part for a model. The width of the blade sets the width of the groove it makes and is the main difference between the individual pieces of this range, which the manufacturer makes in narrower versions as well.
What a width of 1.0 mm means
A whole millimeter is no longer a panel line but a gap. It is used where a real space is meant to be seen between parts: the perimeter of large hatches and access covers, the division of armor plates, the gap around a small door or a lid on vehicles in a larger scale. A small scriber does not suit this purpose, because a row of draws would have to be run side by side and the result would stay irregular.
A second use: a groove for inlaying a part
A wider scriber also suits for cutting a straight groove into which a plastic profile or a strip is then glued. In this way the strips, edgings and stiffeners missing from the basic part are added, and they stay in an exact line.
For modelers who work in larger scales or rework the surface of a model and need a pronounced, legible gap. In a set of scribers it belongs as a companion to the finer widths, not as their replacement.
The blade is sharp and, for all the hardness of tungsten steel, brittle. Guide it away from the body, do not lever it sideways and store the scriber out of the reach of children. Smooth the edges of a scribed gap with a fine abrasive before painting.
