Yellow Olive is a yellowish green olive tone listed under the number RAL 6014. RAL is a German standard of shades, so the paint can be compared with a chart card and used outside one particular scheme as well. In modeling practice this shade tends to be associated with postwar German military vehicles, but check the particular machine and period against the reference material for your build.
The paint is from the Orange Line range by Hataka. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, that is the thinner made for this range. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, ideally with a mixing ball, so that the pigment settled at the bottom is mixed in evenly.
Build the covering coat from several lighter passes instead of one heavy one, otherwise the fine surface detail is lost. Test the thinning ratio and the pressure on a test piece of plastic rather than straight on the model. Spray the shade onto an evened-out base, because the base shifts the color optically.
Modelers who build military vehicles and want a shade tied to a standard number rather than only to a trade name will appreciate it. The shade number also comes in handy when buying more paint for a build already under way, because it guarantees the same tone as the earlier bottle.
The paint is supplied in a bottle on its own. The thinner, a brush and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
