The real subject

The Lorraine 37L was a French tracked armored vehicle from the second half of the 1930s, designed as a supply carrier for tank units. Its task was to bring fuel and ammunition right up to the fighting tanks under the protection of armor, that is, to places an ordinary truck could not reach. Structurally it was a low tracked hull with a tow hitch for a trailer. The vehicle was so well designed that the chassis later became the basis for a whole range of modifications and conversions.

Building and painting tips

In 1:100 scale the parts are very small — it pays to work over a mat with a raised edge so that a part which flies off does not end up on the floor. Choose the glue according to the material: thin modeling cement for injection-molded plastic, super glue for resin. Paint with an airbrush and a fine brush; in this scale a slightly lightened base color works better, because the model is seen from close up and a full tone would optically weigh it down. Keep the weathering restrained — one dark wash in the engraved lines and a light dusting on the running gear is usually enough.
