The Renault R39 in 1:100 scale from Zebranomodel is a small kit of a development variant of the French light tank of the R35 line.

The kit covers the R39, a variant derived from the French Renault R35 light tank, in 1:100 scale. For a collector it is interesting precisely as a companion to the basic version: two vehicles side by side show how the design of one type developed during its service. It is an unassembled and unpainted model, not a finished collector's piece.
The family of Renault light tanks was created in the 1930s to accompany infantry. The vehicles had a cast hull and turret, a two-man crew and were built for endurance rather than speed. Successive modifications responded to experience from training and to the development of anti-armor defenses, so variants appeared differing in details of the superstructure, the armament and the external stowage. The R39 belongs to this line of development.
Before gluing, look at how the turret and the superstructure meet; at small scales any inaccuracy shows immediately. Clean the castings of the sprue gates, and if they are resin, wash them in lukewarm soapy water and glue them with super glue. The basis is a primer, which will also reveal any scratches left by sanding. Build the painting on modulation: a base shade, a mild lightening of the upper surfaces, a thin wash in the pressings and a dry brush on the edges. Dirty the running gear more than the hull, as on these vehicles it was precisely that which suffered most from the terrain. Handle the markings only as small accents; large decals would break the model up visually.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
