MO-Sm-S 39 U trigonometru in 1:1000 scale

A model of the fortification work MO-Sm-S 39 with the cover name U trigonometru in the 1:1000 map scale. The cover name refers to a trigonometric point, that is to a survey point in the terrain by which the work was located in the documentation. The model is intended above all for map displays and models, where what matters is the mutual position of the works in a line.

The real subject

Works of the heavy fortifications were designed to suit a particular place. Decisions were made about the orientation, the resistance, the number of floors and where the embrasures would point, and that according to the shape of the terrain and according to the neighboring structures. That is precisely why no two works are the same and why it makes sense to collect them by whole subsectors: only side by side is it apparent how they differed and how they were meant to work together.

Building and painting tips

Look the model over before building and decide how deeply it will be set into the base, because the backfill markedly changes the final impression. Clean the parts with a fine file; on small surfaces a few strokes are enough. Paint with an airbrush or a very fine brush in thin layers. If you are building several works at once, prepare one common batch of the concrete shade. On the base we recommend adding a simple label with the designation of the work and the cover name, as a display gains markedly in intelligibility by it.
