ROP o.s. 1:1000 MO-Sm-S 41 Nad Valchou is a small model of a work of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications in a map scale.

A model of a particular work of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications, designated MO-Sm-S 41 with the cover name Nad Valchou. The 1:1000 scale is a map scale, so a work with a footprint of a few tens of meters works out as a model of the order of two to three centimeters in size. The range from the ROP o.s. association is therefore intended above all for map displays, for relief models of sectors and for an illustrative comparison of individual works side by side.
Works of the heavy fortifications were built in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 1930s as reinforced concrete fortress structures with a garrison and with armament mounted in embrasures. What was fundamental was that the embrasures pointed to the flank, not forward: neighboring works covered each other with fire and the front wall stayed smooth and resistant. The works differed in resistance, in the number of floors and in their equipment according to their place in the defensive line.
Separate the small parts under a magnifier and with a sharp tool; tweezers will make the work easier. If the castings are of resin or printed, wash them in lukewarm water with dish soap before painting and let them dry out completely. Build the concrete surfaces up from a gray base, which you bring to life with a very fine highlighting of the edges and a dark wash into the gaps. In this scale less is more: too strong a contrast looks coarse. Deal with the earth backfill and the surrounding terrain on the base, not on the model itself.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
