A model of one particular work of the Czechoslovak border fortifications in 1:1000 scale. The designation T-S identifies the construction section, the number gives the order of the work within it and the name is its code name; every model of the series thus corresponds to a different work, not to a generic type. The 1:1000 scale is deliberately small, the model fits in the palm of your hand and is intended above all to be set into a terrain base. The material, the production technology and the number of parts are stated on the box.
The subject is an infantry casemate, that is a work of the heavy fortifications: a reinforced concrete structure sunk into a slope, with the fighting rooms turned to the side and with a gorge wall containing the entrance. The particular type of work, the number of firing rooms, cupolas and floors differs from work to work according to the terrain and according to the state to which the construction was taken.
The model is so small that it is the preparation of the ground that decides. Lay the work dry on the intended base and determine the height at which it sits, because a casemate never stood freely on the flat but was sunk into a slope or an embankment. Model the terrain with putty or a modeling compound only around the seated work, so that the transition from concrete into the ground is not visible as a gap. Start the painting with a uniform gray base, bring the surfaces alive with a light dry brush along the edges and pick out the corners and recessed areas with a dark wash. In 1:1000 there is no longer any point in writing out detail; the model is sold by its silhouette and a clean transition into the terrain.
The model is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, terrain compounds and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
