About product

The Honda CBX 400 F in 1:12 from Revell

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Honda CBX 400 F motorcycle in 1:12. The package holds parts of white plastic, chrome-plated parts and a sheet of decals. The finished model is approximately 168 mm long. The kit is rated at difficulty level three, that is as moderately demanding, and will serve well a modeler who already has some motorcycles behind him.

The real subject

The Honda CBX 400 F belongs to the generation of Japanese 400 cc machines of the beginning of the 1980s, which rode the wave of demand for sharp motorcycles of lower capacity. It is powered by an air-cooled inline four, that is the layout Honda had brought to perfection on larger models and here carried over into a compact frame. The motorcycle brought a more powerful conception of this class and hydraulically damped telescopic forks. On the home Japanese market it won a cult standing, which has stayed with it to this day.

Building and painting tips

With motorcycles the order of work decides. Finish the frame and the engine first, because once the bodywork is fitted you will not reach them. Leave the chrome-plated parts, that is the rims and the exhausts, in chrome and glue them carefully with super glue in small drops, so that the chrome is not damaged. Spray the bodywork and the tank with a quality primer, then with paint and finally with a gloss coat, because it is precisely the sheen of the coat on the tank that makes the greatest impression with a motorcycle. Apply the decals onto a clear-coated glossy surface and once dry clear-coat them again, so that their edge disappears. Wiring and cables can easily be added with thin wire, and on a model in 1:12 that shows.

Who the model is for

  • For modelers of motorcycles who want the iconic Japanese 400 in a large scale.
  • For those who want to try working with chrome and gloss coats.
  • For collectors of Japanese motorcycle equipment of the 1980s.
  • For more advanced beginners who have already managed simpler kits.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. This is a kit of white plastic with chrome-plated parts. Paints, glue and clear coat are not included in the package.

Rather for a more advanced one. The difficulty is rated at level three and the build calls for careful work with chrome and gloss coats.

The finished motorcycle measures approximately 168 mm in length.

Best with super glue in small drops. Classic cement for plastic would damage the chrome at the joint.
