A plastic kit of the rally icon Lancia Delta HF Integrale 16v in 1:12 scale from the manufacturer Italeri. On a passenger car 1:12 is an enormous scale - according to the manufacturer the assembled model measures 32.6 cm long, so it is the flagship of a collection rather than a trinket for a display case. The kit comes from a completely new mold and contains two decal sheets, photo-etched metal, chromed parts and a set of accessories with tubing, screws and springs. The front and rear hoods and the front doors open, the interior and the engine bay are worked out in detail, the suspension is functional and the tires are rubber. The manufacturer places the model in the highest difficulty grade.
The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is the most successful car in the history of the World Rally Championship - with the Delta, Lancia took six consecutive manufacturers' world championship titles. The recipe was clear: all-wheel drive, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a boxy, aggressive body with markedly widened fenders that hid a wider track. The 16v version brought a sixteen-valve head and a further increase in power. The Delta ruled gravel and asphalt alike at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s and is still a synonym for the golden era of rallying.
This is a gloss model - the body has to be perfectly smooth, because a gloss finish will bring out every scratch and every mold parting line. Work through filler, sanding with fine grits, a filler primer and a gloss color laid on with an airbrush in thin coats. The extensive sponsor decals are demanding on such a large, shaped surface - use a decal softener so that they settle into the pressings and around the flanges. Once dry, coat the body with clear varnish over the decals and polish it - only that gives the car its wet, factory-lacquered look and hides the edges of the decals. Build and paint the engine bay and the interior before you close the assemblies up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
