OWL 1:144 Heinkel He 219 A-2 - a decal set

This is a set of waterslide decals in 1:144 scale from the maker OWL, intended for a plastic model of the twin-engine Heinkel He 219 A-2 Uhu night fighter. It is neither a kit nor a finished model - the set contains only sheets of decals with which you complete and enliven a base kit with period-accurate markings and colors of particular machines.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 219 Uhu was a Luftwaffe twin-engine night fighter from the late phase of the Second World War. It was among the highest performing night fighters of its day and is cited as the first production aircraft fitted with ejection seats. The A-2 version served with the night fighter wings (Nachtjagdgeschwader) and carried the typical dark night camouflage with national insignia and tactical markings.

Use and tips

• Apply the decals onto a smooth, glossy and degreased surface - ideally over a coat of gloss clear.
• Dip the piece briefly in lukewarm water and, once it comes free, slide it off the backing into the right place.
• For perfect adhesion to the detail use a decal softener and finally fix everything with a matte or semi-gloss clear coat.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building Luftwaffe night fighters in 1:144 scale.
• Anyone interested in alternative markings to those in a base kit of the He 219.
• Collectors of small aircraft models who want accurate historical variants.

The set contains only decals. The kit, paints, glue and clear coat are not included in the package.
