A sheet of decals for twin-boom Lockheed P-38 Lightnings in 1:144 scale. Four schemes of markings, including machines named after pilots who made their mark on the history of fighter aviation.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lightning stood out from the other American fighters at first glance: two engines, two tail booms and the pilot's nacelle set in the middle. The arrangement gave it the range to escort bomber formations deep over the continent, and concentrated firepower in the tip of the nose, where there was no need to deal with synchronization with a propeller. This sheet brings four schemes of markings for models in 1:144 scale.
The supplier names, among others, an aircraft of the J subversion belonging to Robin Olds, a pilot whose career began on Lightnings and ended two wars later. Another scheme goes to the machine of Jack Ilfrey, who flew the earlier variants of the line. Alongside them are two aircraft with names painted on the nose and squadron assignments from 1944.
In 1:144 scale most of the artwork is only a few millimeters across, so it pays to cut it from the backing as close to the print as possible. The model has to be given a gloss coat beforehand, because on a matte surface air is trapped under the decal and the edge turns white. Slide the artwork off the backing with a damp brush, line it up and blot off the excess water with a paper tissue. The wing roundels on this type are large and go on easily.
The set contains no parts and no finished model, only the printed sheet and the list of schemes. Paints, clear coat and decal softener are not included; allow for them separately according to the camouflage you choose.
