This is an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Brengun, cast in resin. It is not an airplane kit or a finished model but a set of underwing ordnance that a modeler adds to a kit already under construction in 1:144 scale. A resin casting holds the sharp edges, the fine fins and the shape of the bomb body considerably better than injected plastic, which in a scale that small shows at first glance.
The SC500 belonged to the German family of high-explosive aerial bombs marked with the SC abbreviation. The number in the designation gives the approximate weight of the bomb in kilograms, that is roughly five hundred kilograms. Bombs of this family were carried on the external racks of bombers and fighter-bombers and were the most common type of dropped ordnance in this weight class. For a modeler it is a typical accessory for German machines of the Second World War.
First wash the resin castings in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap so that any mold release residue leaves the surface, otherwise paint will not hold. Do not snap the casting blocks off; cut them with a saw or a knife and sand the surface down, and protect your airways when sanding resin. They are bonded with super glue, as ordinary plastic cement does not work on resin. A primer is needed before painting. Bomb bodies are usually painted in a uniform dark shade and brought to life with a light edge highlight and a trace of chipped paint where the hanger sits.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
