The sheet holds waterslide decals for models of helicopters of the H-60 family in 1:144 scale. In itself it is not a kit and not a finished model — it serves to mark a model you buy separately. It concentrates on machines in the service of the Royal Thai Navy.
The S-70B is the export designation of the naval variant of the H-60 family helicopter, adapted for operation from the decks of surface ships. It differs from the land version in its folding main rotor and tail section, in equipment for landing on a small deck and in fittings for naval duties such as patrol, search and rescue or working with a ship group. The MH-60S is a newer multi-purpose machine of the same family intended for carrying personnel and cargo, replenishing ships underway and support duties, with a roomier cabin and sliding doors on both sides. Both machines share a common basis, but they differ in equipment and in typical duties, which carries over into the form of their markings.
Helicopters have many rounded surfaces, and in 1:144 scale that shows — a decal often has to run from the side of the cabin onto a door or across the edge of the tail. So split the larger elements if the artwork allows, and seat them in sections. Spray the area with gloss clear, soak the decal briefly in lukewarm water and let it stand until the backing gives. On rounded parts, apply a thin coat of decal softener, seat the decal and leave it alone — bubbles usually draw themselves in while drying. Watch out for the cabin glazing frames, where there is little room and a decal is easily folded over. You will make the work easier if you finish the main rotor and the blades only after applying the markings to the fuselage.
