A large-format set for a model of the Bf 109G-6 in 1:24 scale: sheets for the glazing for both sides, four sets of national insignia and metal barrels. Laid out to the Trumpeter moldings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Gustav series meant a return to heavier armament for the Messerschmitt and at the same time the period when the greatest number of color solutions met on a single version. Beside the gray-green camouflage of the day fighters, the G-6 appears on machines with a white winter finish, with the yellow recognition bands of the southern theater and in a black night scheme with subdued marking. That is precisely why it pays to have more insignia options at hand on this type.
The set carries four sets of national insignia, sheets for masking the glazing from the outside as well as the inside, and metal barrels replacing the plastic gun muzzles.
In the large format it is the marking that decides the result. A cross on the wing here measures about four centimeters and a decal of that area brings a carrier film with it whose edge gives itself away by a reflection once dry and which wrinkles easily over an engraved line. A sprayed area has nothing of the sort, because it lies directly in the paint. On a small model the film tends to be imperceptible; here it is visible at first glance.
It is also worth noticing how the demands change as the format grows. While on small models the number of marking options tends to be a luxury, because they end up in a display case behind glass anyway, on a large piece it is the main reason why someone picks that particular machine. A set with four options therefore does not sell film alone, but a choice.
The package is a supplement for the build; there is no model in it.
