An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Ford GT40 Mk.II racing car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. The box contains white and clear sprues and a decal sheet that allows several marking options. The kit captures the characteristic low body of the special from the 24 Hours of Le Mans and is intended to be glued and painted.
The Ford GT40 appeared in the 1960s as Ford's answer to the long-standing dominance of Ferrari in endurance racing. The Mk.II version with its big-displacement V8 brought Ford a historic victory and a clean sweep of the podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. The low, aerodynamic body with doors cut into the roof also gave the car its name — a height of only about 40 inches. The GT40 is among the most famous racing cars of all time.
Paint the body with an airbrush after a primer has been applied; a racing livery comes out best on a smooth glossy base. Sponsor decals and race numbers settle best on a gloss coat, and a decal softener helps them sink into the details. The model offers engine detail, so it pays to bring out the powerplant carefully. Glue the glazing with a cement for clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
