The package holds two alternative heads, so the figure can be rendered in two ways or the direction of the gaze can be tuned to the rest of the scene. The pay phone itself is not included in the package; it is sold separately in the same diorama range.
A figure is the one reliable way to tell the viewer the true size of a model and to set a scene in motion. A figure absorbed in a conversation also gives a diorama a story: it explains why the car is standing at the curb and naturally directs the viewer's eye. A civilian figure is more versatile than a uniform in this respect: it suits a street, a service and a motel scene alike, without tying the scene to a period or a subject.
Start by washing the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on it. Cut the casting blocks away with a fine saw and sand the area wet, with respiratory protection. Glue the head with cyanoacrylate only after a dry fit, because the angle of the head decides the whole expression of the figure. Once a primer is down, painting with a brush from the top downward works well: the skin first with gentle shading, then the clothing and last the hair and the small details. Even the transitions out with glazes of heavily thinned paint, and paint the eyes with the finest brush you have and rather less pronounced than more.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, a base and the pay phone are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
