A sheet of small technical stencils and national insignia of the earlier shape for a 1:32 model of the B-17F bomber. It contains the instrument panel, the lettering for the fuel ports, the propeller logos and the black walkway stripes on the wing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17F entered combat in 1942 as the first mass-deployed form of the Flying Fortress, and its recognition feature became the one-piece nose glazing without transverse frames. It was in its cabins that the American daylight formations went through the hardest period of raids on targets deep inside Germany, when the escort fighters still reached no further than the borders of the Reich. Boeing, Douglas and Vega built nearly three and a half thousand examples between them.
The content of the printing is not the color markings of one particular machine but the fine lettering scattered over the whole airframe. There is the front plate with the instruments for the pilot's area, the lettering by the filler port of the fuel tank, the company logos for the propeller blades, the black stripes marking the safe path across the wing, the plates by the life raft stowage and a series of data placards. They are supplemented by national insignia of the first type, that is, a white star in a blue circle without the side rectangles, as carried on American machines until June 1943.
Miniature lettering forgives mistakes considerably less than large areas do. The surface must be glossy and perfectly dried out, otherwise air settles under the carrier film and the edge silvers once dry. Cut as close to the print as possible and carry the individual pieces on the tip of a damp brush, as tweezers are too coarse for them. Add decal softener only once the element is sitting in its place, because a softened film cannot be moved anywhere.
In the package there is the printed sheet alone; the plastic kit of the bomber is sold separately.
