A resin add-on set in 1:32 scale for a model of the twin-engine multirole Eurofighter Typhoon. It is not a model of the aircraft, but a replacement for the exhaust ends of both powerplants. The nozzles are done in the closed, that is narrowed position and match the earlier type, which the maker distinguishes from the later one. The casting brings thinner petal edges, finer division and a three-dimensional interior, that is detail that injection-molded plastic as a rule cannot manage in such an exposed place.
The Typhoon is a twin-engine fighter from a European consortium powered by a pair of EJ200 engines with afterburners. The exhaust nozzles are among the most striking features of the rear end and their cross-section changes with the engine setting — on the ground and in the various phases of operation they can therefore be caught both narrowed and spread. The form of the nozzles was also reworked during service, so early and later machines are not interchangeable in this place.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent; that removes the release agent from the mold. Separate the casting blocks with a fine saw, true the seating surface on abrasive paper laid on a flat board and use respiratory protection while sanding. Cyanoacrylate secures the joint; cement for plastic will not bite into resin. Begin painting with a primer; for the metal surfaces of the nozzle, shades of burnt metal, a dark wash into the recesses and fine shading toward the exhaust all suit. Always go by photographs of the machine you are building — the position of the nozzles and the degree of sooting differ from one aircraft to another.
