A resin accessory set in 1:32 scale for a model of the Eurofighter Typhoon. It is not a model but a replacement for the end sections of both powerplants. The nozzles are done in the closed, that is the narrowed position, and correspond to the later type, which the manufacturer distinguishes from the earlier one. Compared with an injection-molded part, the casting offers thinner petal edges, sharper division and deeper relief — and on a nozzle, which everyone looks at when examining a model, that shows most.
The Typhoon is a twin-engine multirole fighter from a European consortium, powered by a pair of EJ200 engines with an afterburner. The nozzles form a prominent part of the silhouette of the rear, and their exit area changes under control according to the engine setting. The form of the nozzles was also modified during service, which is why detail sets distinguish an earlier and a later type. Before the build it pays to find out which group the machine being modeled belongs to.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, otherwise the remains of the mold release agent will show up as poor paint adhesion. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, level the contact surface on abrasive paper and protect your airways while sanding. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); try the position of the part dry first, because cyanoacrylate allows no correction. Painting: a primer, metallic shades, a dark wash into the recesses and fine scorched transitions at the exit. Judge the degree of sooting from photographs of the real machine.
