1:32 F-117A Nighthawk (late version) is a set of 3D textured instrument panels from Red Fox Studio on decal paper for the cockpit of the model in 1:32 scale. Intended for Trumpeter kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
Colored panels with printed relief that are not glued into the model but applied by soaking, like a decal. The elements settle onto a smooth varnished base and, once dry, hold the shape of the bezels, the buttons and the screens. For a cockpit where round instruments mix with flat displays this is the quickest route to a legible result. The set is intended for Trumpeter kits.
It is single-seat, narrow and deep. The panel combines older analog instruments with screens that on later machines showed data from the sensor suite; it is precisely that mixture which sets the late form of the cockpit apart from the early machines, where there were fewer displays. Two narrow side consoles run around the seat and the space is altogether more enclosed than on an ordinary fighter. The key question, though, is how much of it you will see once it is closed: the canopy has thick frames and small areas of glazing, so with the cockpit closed mainly the upper part of the panel and the immediate surroundings of the seat stay on show. Anyone building the model with the canopy closed can plan the order of work accordingly; anyone leaving it open is rewarded with the whole panel.
First work out which elements will be visible and apply those with the greatest care and first, while there is still room for your hand in the cockpit. Keep the soak short and the water lukewarm; let the film release only on the paper. A narrow tub is hard to reach with a brush, so have a thin flat brush and a toothpick ready and reckon with positioning the element over the edge of the rim. Keep the base slippery and do not hurry to draw the water off. Apply decal softener only to edges and to the transitions between the panel and the consoles, thinly and from the edge; on a thicker print it works more slowly, so allow it time. Before closing the cockpit, let everything dry overnight and fix it with a light coat of semi-matte varnish.
This is a modeling accessory, not a kit. The base model, paints and glue are not included in the package. Check in advance that it matches your kit.
