A self-adhesive masking set for modelers who want to spray the markings of their model instead of sticking them on. It is an accessory to a model of an aircraft in 1:32 scale – there is no plastic in the package, no parts of the aircraft and no paints. The set is tied to one particular machine nicknamed Gloria Lyons I, so from it you get exactly this aircraft, not the general markings of a whole series.
Kittyhawk IV was the designation under which fighters of the P-40N line served with the air forces of the British Commonwealth – above all in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The N version was the last large production batch of the whole family: it received a lightened structure, a markedly glazed rear section of the canopy for a better view and altered armament. In the fighting over the Pacific and Southeast Asia the machine proved itself mainly at low altitudes and as a fighter-bomber. Crews commonly decorated their aircraft with personal names and paintings on the fuselage, which is exactly why masking sets of this kind carry the name of a particular machine.
Stick the mask on only onto a perfectly dry and smooth base – ideally onto a gloss coat, which the edge of the mask bonds to well and paint does not creep under. First only lay the sheet on the model and check whether the shape sits on the real panels and rivet lines of your model; only then press the mask down for good. Run a wooden toothpick or blunt tweezers over the edges, so that they bed down everywhere. Apply the paint with an airbrush in several very thin coats and at lower pressure; one heavy coat is the most frequent cause of an imperfect edge. Spray the lighter shades before the dark ones.
