The sheet holds waterslide decals for a model of the two-seat T-33 jet aircraft in 1:32 scale. It is not a kit — you buy the model separately and this accessory gives it the markings of the Royal Thai Air Force. The nickname T-bird in the title belongs to the type itself, not to a particular version of the sheet.

The real subject

The T-33 came about as a two-seat trainer variant derived from the F-80 Shooting Star jet fighter. The fuselage received an insert that allowed two seats to be placed one behind the other under a common sliding canopy, and power came from an Allison J33 turbojet. The type became one of the most widespread jet trainers of all, built in thousands of examples and under license outside the United States as well. Besides training, air forces used it for liaison and auxiliary duties, for training flights and for maintaining flying hours. It is precisely because of its long service and wide export that a great number of color variants exist, including Asian users.

How to use the sheet

Before application, check on the model whether the size of the decals matches your particular kit — in a large scale that shows at once. Spray the area with gloss clear, and cut the decal close to the artwork but never into it. Soak it briefly in lukewarm water and set it aside to stand; the backing should release by itself and must not be pulled off by force. Long bands, such as trainers tend to have on the fuselage and on the tip tanks, should be carried over in sections and held with a damp brush. Special attention is needed on the frames of the cockpit canopy, where a decal has to follow a curve; a decal softener applied in a thin coat and calm drying without touching will help.
