The 1:32 North American F-100F Super Sabre airbrake photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard sharpens up the airbrake area on a model of this supersonic fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set made from thin metal sheet by the Czech company Eduard of Obrnice near Most. It concentrates on the airbrake area of the two-seat Super Sabre. The etched parts replace or supplement the plastic parts of the 1:32 base kit and bring a material thickness and a crispness of detail that injection-molded plastic cannot offer.
The North American F-100 Super Sabre was the first American production fighter able to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. It was powered by a jet engine with an afterburner and its wing had a pronounced sweep. The F-100F version is the two-seat variant with the crew in tandem, used both for training and for combat duties. The airbrake on the underside of the fuselage is one of the conspicuous features of the type and is often modeled in the open position.
Etched parts are held in the fret by thin tabs only. Never break them out with your fingers or with nippers, because the metal bends and the part is ruined. Lay the fret on a hard smooth surface, ideally a piece of glass or a steel plate, and cut through the tab with vertical pressure from a sharp scalpel or a dedicated etch chisel. Level the stub of the tab with a fine file or high-grit sandpaper worked in one direction. Before you start, degrease the parts with alcohol: they usually carry a thin film from production that spoils the adhesion of both primer and glue.
This is an add-on set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
