A sheet with full-color printed three-dimensional seat belts in 1:32 scale from the manufacturer Kits-World. It is neither a model nor a kit, but a cockpit accessory. This version is aimed at two-seat machines and bombers of the First World War period, that is at aircraft where the belts have to be dealt with at two stations at once: at the pilot and at the observer or gunner.

What that means for a model

Two-seat and bomber aircraft of that time have substantially larger exposed spaces than single-seat fighters. The rear cockpit tends to be empty, with a gun ring and a simple seat, and it looks deep into the fuselage. An empty cockpit shows there more conspicuously than anywhere else. The belt set therefore also deals with what is absent on single-seat machines, that is the seat of the second crew member.

How to make use of the sheet

• Lay out in advance which belts will go into the front and which into the rear cockpit.
• Finish the wooden and fabric surfaces of the interior and let them dry before you glue the belts on.
• Cut with a sharp knife close to the edge of the print and always only the part you are about to use.
• Follow the instructions enclosed with the sheet, because the application differs from ordinary decals.
• In the rear cockpit let the belt lie loose or thrown over the edge, as it looks livelier than a symmetrical arrangement.
