Turned metal barrels of 20 mm for the American M61 Vulcan rotary cannon in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Aber. A metal replacement for the plastic barrels on a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of turned metal barrels in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It represents the barrel cluster of the American M61 Vulcan rotary cannon of 20 mm. This is a model neither of a weapon nor of a vehicle, but a detail accessory: the metal barrels replace the plastic parts, which on such slender, long shapes practically always bend and have a blind muzzle.
The M61 Vulcan is an American six-barreled rotary cannon of 20 mm with a Gatling system, introduced in the 1950s and in use to this day. The rotating cluster of barrels allows a very high rate of fire without any single barrel overheating. Besides aircraft armament the M61 told in ground and naval anti-aircraft mounts as well; in 1:35 scale modelers meet it mainly on the self-propelled anti-aircraft systems of the American army.
Cut off the plastic barrel at the root, clean out the opening in the mantlet or the shield and push the metal part home. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen the mating surfaces lightly; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a base coat meant for metals onto the metal parts, or the paint will hold poorly. The hollow muzzle stands out when you darken it lightly from inside with a soot shade. On a cluster of barrels it is essential that all the parts are equally long and parallel: try them dry first and, looking from the front, check the regularity of the circle that the muzzles form.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
