The set holds a pair of civilian figures in 1:35 scale: a man with a disability and an older woman. The castings are of polyurethane resin and are supplied unassembled and unpainted, that is as a classic resin figure set. The manufacturer is the Czech company Plusmodel, which has long had civilian figures in its program alongside military ones. The English form of the name carries a small typo, but the content is not affected by it.
Civilian figures do more for a diorama than one more soldier: they show that the scene is set in an inhabited place and give the setting a human dimension. A pair of older civilians comes into its own in a village or city scene, at a farm building, on a road and beside a halted vehicle. It is precisely the contrast between ordinary life and military equipment in the background that tends to give a diorama its character.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw and fill the seams once glued, as with figures a clean transition at the shoulders and the collar is essential. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). After the primer, paint the skin and the cloth separately and in thin coats; civilian clothing will take subdued, earthy tones and gentle wear. The faces of older figures come off well when the shadows of the wrinkles are deepened with thinned dark paint and the raised places are carefully highlighted.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
