This kit from the manufacturer Dragon captures the German heavy tank Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. E, known as the Tiger I, in 1:35 scale. The designation Gruppe Fehrmann in the name refers to a particular unit, that is to the markings and the configuration of the vehicle that the boxing covers. The same subject is offered by other manufacturers and in other scales as well, so when choosing, watch that you are buying this very boxing.
The Tiger I was a heavy tank with a hull welded from flat armor plates, with armament consisting of an 88 mm gun and with a characteristic interleaved running gear with large road wheels on torsion bars. The running gear was arranged so that the wheels overlapped one another in several rows, which improved the distribution of the weight but complicated the maintenance. The vehicles were built in several production series, which differ from one another in the commander's cupola, the form of the fenders, the exhausts, the tools on the hull and the type of road wheels. The particular combination of these elements is always determined by the boxing and its instructions.
Start with the running gear and, before you close it up, check that all the wheels are in one plane and that the spacing fits. Fit the tracks and let them settle before you glue the fenders on, otherwise you will not reach them. Deal with the interior and the lower hull according to what the boxing contains; there is no point in detailing closed compartments. After the primer, spray thin coats of the shade and then emphasize the surface with a dark wash into the joints and a dry brush on the edges. On the running gear and the lower areas, dust and mud effects with pigments suit well, but apply them from the bottom upward and only in the places where dirt would really have reached. Paint the tools, the cables and the plates separately while they are accessible.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
