A separate figure in 1:35 scale from the range of modern irregular fighters from the manufacturer MAiM. The name makes both the pose and the armament precise: the figure is caught in a resting position and is equipped with an AK-47 assault rifle and an RPG launcher. It is exactly this stated armament that sets the figure apart from the other variants of the motif.
The AK-47 and the hand-held antitank launchers of the RPG family are technically the most widespread small arms of irregular units and they appear most often in dioramas from present-day conflicts. In modeling terms both are interesting for their combination of materials: the wooden or polymer parts of the gun stock and the handguard against the blued steel of the barrel and against a fabric sling. The resting pose also allows the figure to be seated on the edge of a vehicle, on a crate or on a step, which makes setting it into a scene easier.
Wash the figure in lukewarm soapy water, let it dry and sand the parting seams gently. Paint the weapons separately from the figure: the wooden parts with layered glazes from a light base, the metal with a dark steel color and with gentle polishing with graphite or a pigment on the edges. Keep the composite parts of the RPG matte. Build the figure up from a base coat, put a thin wash into the folds of the clothing and build the highlights by lightening step by step, not with white. It pays to paint the face and the hands before you cement the figure together. Finally unify the figure with the scene by dust on the footwear and the lower hems of the clothing.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
