The 1:35 Leopard 1A2 wheel masking set from the Quickwheel company blocks out the disk of a road wheel and reveals only the rubber, which you then spray in a single step. The cut-outs are cut for the wheels from the kit of the Italeri company.

The set belongs among modeling aids. The self-adhesive masks are applied to the center of the road wheels and during spraying they cover the disk, so that only the rubber gets paint. The precision of the edge is given by the cut, not by the hand. The set is prepared for the wheels from the kit of the Italeri company.
In exercise and field service the wheels of a tank are usually the dirtiest place on the whole vehicle, so the question arises whether it is worth bothering with masking at all. It is, only the role of that step changes. Dust is applied at the end and is semi-transparent, so the base stays readable beneath it. When the edge between rubber and disk is already smeared from the painting, dust will not save it, it will only lighten it and the mess will stay visible. A cleanly sprayed wheel, by contrast, gives dust something to build on. In practice, therefore, spray the disk and the rubber sharply according to the mask, let it dry and only then add a pigment or a hint of dust across the whole wheel. Where there is to be the most dust, that is in the recesses of the disk and at the margins, apply it more thickly and let the areas most worked by the track show through.
Paint the wheels away from the running gear, on a skewer or in a holder. Once applied, press the mask down around the perimeter. Apply the paint thinly and from the center outward. Apply the pigment only once the paint is fully cured, otherwise it will work into it unevenly.
The package holds masking masks, not parts of a model. Paints, pigments and glue are not included in the delivery.
