1:35 M60A2, M60 Patton is a masking set for the road wheels of the American M60 tank. It serves to separate the rubber tire band from the wheel rim while spraying; it is not a kit or a part.

A set of masks for painting the road wheels of the American M60 medium tank in 1:35 scale, usable for both variants named in the title. The mask covers the wheel rim and allows the rubber tire band to be sprayed on its own, so the border between rubber and steel comes out straight and concentric. The set is cut for the kits from Dragon; it is an accessory, not a model.
The M60 carries its road wheels individually on torsion bars, so a row of large separate discs with a pronounced wide rubber tire band stands on each side. The disc is pressed and dished inwards, so the tire band forms a distinct ring around the circumference — it is exactly the type of wheel on which lining by brush fails, because the eye picks out even a faintly wavy line at once. The difference between the versions is above hull level, meanwhile: the M60A2 with its so-called starship turret and launcher system has a different superstructure, but shares its running gear with the classic M60 Patton. That is why one set of masks covers both subjects. Do not forget that the drive sprocket and the idler wheel differ in shape from the road wheels and have no rubber tire band — the masks belong only on the road wheels and on return rollers with a tire band.
Have ready a pair of tweezers with straight fine tips and a second curved pair; with the straight ones you lift a mask off the sheet, with the curved ones you hold it on the wheel without blocking your view. Check concentricity through a magnifier, ideally with bench lighting from the side — side light shows even a microscopic gap between the mask and the tire band. Stick the wheels onto double-sided tape on a strip of card or spike them on skewers; while spraying you then turn the holder, not the wheel. Keep the unmasked wheels apart from the masked ones, or you will lose track halfway through the job. Lift the mask off while the paint has freshly dried but is not yet fully cured, and always at a slant across the surface, not straight up.
