A set of replacement wheels for a model of the modern Boxer MRAV wheeled armored vehicle. The tires have a weighted profile — they are flattened where they sit down and the sidewalls bulge slightly, so that a finished model looks as though it really were carrying its own weight. It is not a kit of the vehicle, but a detail accessory for a model in 1:35 scale.
The Boxer MRAV is a modern wheeled armored vehicle in an 8x8 configuration whose fundamental design feature is its division into a drive module and an interchangeable mission module. Depending on the module fitted, the vehicle fills various roles while keeping a common chassis. It is exactly the large wheels that dominate the view of it, and because kit parts tend to be perfectly circular, the model visually hovers above its base. Weighted wheels remove this most conspicuous weakness and as a rule also bring a finer tread pattern.
Wash the castings in warm water with detergent because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting residue off with a fine saw and level the contact faces by sanding them wet with your airways protected, so that all the wheels are the same height. Glue them with cyanoacrylate, orient the flattening downwards and watch the alignment. Apply a base coat before painting. Mix the tire toward dark gray, not pure black; bring the grooves out with a thin wash and dust the sidewalls with pigments matching the ground the model stands on.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit in its own right. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
