This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter presents the Soviet T-62 medium tank in the 1972 pattern version with add-on explosive reactive armor (ERA) in 1:35 scale. The set contains a great many plastic parts, photo-etched and metal elements, and it faithfully captures the characteristic blocks of reactive armor on the hull and the turret. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The T-62 was a Soviet medium tank armed with a 115 mm smoothbore gun, which followed on from the proven T-54 and T-55 family. The version with add-on ERA explosive reactive armor supplemented the passive armor with explosive blocks that reduced the effect of shaped charge projectiles. Vehicles of this type appeared in conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere.
Finish the running gear and the tracks before the hull is closed up. Fit the blocks of reactive armor carefully according to the instructions so that the spacing comes out right. Glue the plastic parts with thin cement, and after the primer choose either a single-color finish or camouflage and round the whole thing off with a wash and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
