A set of three campfires from the manufacturer MAiM. It is a diorama prop, not a kit of a vehicle. The manufacturer lists it in a universal scale, primarily matching 1:35, but a campfire is naturally variable in size, so the pieces will serve convincingly in neighboring scales as well, for instance 1:48 or 1:24. Few elements give a scene as much atmosphere as the trace of a fire, because it suggests the presence of people, time and a story.
A campfire belongs in a military camp, a partisan bivouac, a stopping place for refugees and a post-apocalyptic shelter; in civilian subjects it fills out a campsite or a garden. Three pieces in the set let you fit out several places in one scene, or divide the supply between several projects. Figures compose superbly around a campfire, sitting, warming themselves, cooking, and a natural focal point for the whole composition appears.
After cleaning up and priming, paint the wood dark: the burnt ends matte black with an ash-gray dry brush, and fill the center of the fire out with the orange-red tones of glowing embers. A gentle gradation is effective: black, gray, white ash, orange glow. Advanced builders can light the campfire from below with a tiny flickering LED and so literally set the scene alight.
It is supplied as unpainted castings to be cleaned up and painted. Paints, glue and lighting are not included in the package.
