An injection-molded plastic kit of the German battleship Tirpitz in 1:350 scale from the brand Trumpeter. With large battleships 1:350 is one of the most popular scales: the model is big enough for fine details to be added to it and it still fits into an ordinary display case. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Tirpitz was the second unit of the German class of battleships whose first unit was Bismarck. It was a large vessel with the main gun armament in turrets, with an extensive secondary and anti-aircraft battery and with a catapult for shipboard aircraft. She spent most of her service in Norwegian waters, where air and submarine offensive action was repeatedly directed against her, and she was sunk by an air attack in 1944. For a modeler she is interesting for the divided superstructure and the large number of deck details.
Lay the build out in sections: first the hull and the decks, then the superstructures and last of all the small fittings, so that they do not break off while handling. Fill and sand the hull seams before you start gluing the deck details. We recommend painting the model with an airbrush part by part before the final assembly, otherwise the paint will not reach into the shadows under the superstructures. Glue photo-etched parts such as railings with cyanoacrylate glue onto an already painted surface. Keep the weathering restrained; on ships a fine dark glaze into the recesses and suggested rust runs under the scuppers work, not overall grubbiness.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
