The model from the Merit brand comes as a full-hull version in injection-molded plastic and brings the characteristic enclosed superstructure, the flight deck and the well deck in the stern. The large model offers room for detailing and for adding photo-etched sets.
USS New York is an amphibious transport dock (LPD) of the US Navy of the San Antonio class. She serves to carry and land Marines with landing craft and helicopters, and she has a floodable well deck in the stern and a flight deck. The ship is known for the fact that steel was symbolically worked into her structure; she remains a typical example of a modern American amphibious ship.
Glue the whole hull with a thin cement for plastic and any photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting and spray with an airbrush; the extensive flat areas of the superstructure call for an even coat. You can bring the surface to life with a fine wash and accenting of the panels. The finished model is well suited to being displayed on a stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
