Responsibility details are not available.
A combined package of accessories for the plastic kit of the battleship HMS Rodney in 1:700 scale. It holds a veneer deck with pre-printed plank laying and a self-adhesive backing, painting masks and photo-etched parts. It is not a ship kit; without the base plastic model the set cannot be used. The parts are cut for the Trumpeter 06718 kit, so check the match before buying.
The engraved deck on a plastic part is only a set of shallow grooves, which largely disappear once paint is sprayed on. A thin veneer brings instead the real grain of wood, a fine spread of color between individual planks and a matte surface that looks different from varnished plastic. The photo-etched parts from the same package then add elements that cannot be made thin enough in an injection mold.
Lay the veneer on dry before taking the covering film off and check that it fits all the hatchways and bases of superstructures. Then peel the film off in sections, not all at once. Separate the photo-etched parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface, bend them over a metal edge or in a bending tool and glue them with super glue applied in a minimum amount; any excess runs into the engraving and shows up as a glossy patch during painting. Degrease the area before gluing the etching.
The set is not a model on its own. The plastic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
