An injection-molded plastic kit of the German coastal submarine U 2 of type IIA in 1:400 scale from the Polish brand Mirage Hobby. The model has a full hull and comes with a base for display; the package contains plastic parts and decals. Thanks to the small scale it is a quickly built and undemanding piece for a collection.
Type IIA was the smallest of the German coastal submarines, nicknamed canoes on account of their size. They were small, handy vessels intended for operations in coastal waters and for training crews. U 2 was among the first units of this series, on which a whole generation of Kriegsmarine submarine crews trained.
In a small scale, take care over the clean gluing of the hull halves and the conning tower; sand the joint carefully. Glue the small parts with liquid cement. Build the model with the full hull on the base. Spray the base coat with an airbrush, create the transitions between the shades of the hull and the tower with masking, and accentuate the details with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
