Aber — a two-part 8.8 cm KwK 43/3 L/71 barrel in 1:48 scale is a turned metal replacement for the plastic barrel for models of the King Tiger tank with the Porsche turret.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal barrel for the 8.8 cm KwK 43/3 L/71 gun in the late two-part form, in 1:48 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It is intended as a replacement for the plastic barrel for models of the German heavy tank King Tiger (Tiger II) with the Porsche turret. It is not a stand-alone model but an upgrade accessory to a base kit.
The KwK 43 L/71 gun of 8.8 cm caliber was among the most capable tank weapons of the Second World War; its long barrel gave the shell a high muzzle velocity and the ability to destroy enemy tanks at long range. The later production form used a two-part barrel, which made replacing the worn front section simpler. The first fifty King Tigers built carried the rounded turret of the Krupp works, commonly referred to as the Porsche turret, whose shape is among the most striking silhouettes of German armor.
The long metal barrel is perfectly straight, so there is no straightening of warped plastic and no sanding of seams, and the suggested division of the two-part form stays crisp. Degrease the part, glue it with cyanoacrylate glue and paint over a primer. With camouflage sprayed across the barrel, masking tape helps; bring the join of the barrel out lightly with a wash.
An accessory set; the base tank kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
