A set of painting masks in 1:48 scale for a model of the early Bf 109 in the A and B versions from the Dora Wings kit. The masks are applied to the parts before the paint is sprayed.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109 was among the most widespread German fighters. The A and B versions stand at the very beginning of its development, before the types that make up most of what is available in model form, so they appear only rarely in 1:48 scale. The early machines differ from the later ones in the shape of the nose, the glazing and the armament, and that is why their masks have their own shape too.
This is a mask set intended for the Bf 109 A and B kit from Dora Wings. The masks are cut precisely to the shapes that on the model match the glazing and the other areas that are to stay free of paint. Which parts the set covers and in what order they go on is given in the instructions enclosed with the package.
The masks are applied to a clean and degreased surface, always before spraying. Lift the pieces out with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press them down with a stick so that the edge seats along its whole length; that is exactly where paint creeps under. Spray in thin layers; a heavy layer tears when the mask comes off. Take the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, holding the edge down with a blade as you do so. If any trace of adhesive is left behind, wipe it away with a cotton bud moistened with water.
The set suits anyone building the model given who wants sharp edges on the glazing without the lengthy business of cutting tape. It saves time and temper, and the result is more even than masking by hand. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
