The set joins a human figure with an animal companion, which from the point of view of composition is an entirely different task from a figure on its own. The dog holds the viewer's gaze low to the ground, and the man above it gains a natural weight. The 1:35 scale stands in the name, and the goods are supplied by the Ukrainian brand Spalah.
An animal at the side of a figure in civilian clothing gives away at once that the scene does not belong to the fighting line but to the country setting behind it - to a homestead, to a track between fields, to the edge of a wood. This creates a subject that needs a minimum of setting: a piece of fence, grass and a muddy track. At the same time the dog offers the modeler something not met with in ordinary military sets, and gives the scene scale as well as movement.
Skin, cloth and fur are painted differently, so divide the work up. With the man go from the face to the clothing; with the animal start with a middle tone of the coat and build the highlights with a dry brush in the direction of the hair. So that the pair holds together, use the same final application of earthy pigments on the legs and lower hems of both figures. That unifies them better than any matching of shades.
