The package holds one figure of a Soviet officer in the winter pattern of the uniform in 1:35 scale, cast in modeling resin. The casting is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is an aftermarket accessory for a diorama, neither a kit of a vehicle nor a finished painted model. The manufacturer carries the same subject in a summer variant as a separate set as well, so the two figures can be stood side by side in one scene or used separately according to the season of the subject.
The winter pattern means above all a long coat or a sheepskin coat, winter headgear and gloves. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject: large areas of fabric with marked folds carry shading and a dry brush well, so the figure works even from a greater distance in a scene. At the same time a restrained palette and fine fading of the edges look best with winter clothing, because too much contrast looks artificial.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the primer holds. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw or a cutting disc, level the surface and do the sanding wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate super glue; fill the seams with putty. After a thin primer, paint the coat in two or three shades with a shadow in the folds and use a dry brush on the edges. Build the face up by layering thin glazes. Bring the lower hem of the coat and the boots to life with dust or mud pigments, and with a winter scene a discreet suggestion of damp with a gloss varnish in the recesses suits as well. Finally unify the surface with a matte varnish.
The set is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted resin casting. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
