A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for the twin-rotor Boeing Vertol 107 helicopter in Canadian service. The sheet covers the rescue version as well as the transport one.
Responsibility details are not available.
A helicopter with rotors at both ends of the fuselage needs no tail rotor and carries a fairly long load, which comes in handy where flying is done far from the workshop. Canada acquired this type in two forms. The Royal Canadian Air Force got a machine equipped for search and rescue, that is with a hoist and the range for long flights over forests and sea, while the Canadian Army took over a plainer transport version for carrying troops and materiel. Later the two branches were merged and the transport examples were rebuilt to the rescue standard, so one airframe could carry two sets of equipment and two sets of markings over its life.
The sheet covers two Canadian machines, each from a different half of this history and from a different decade. The first is the rescue version as it looked in 1974, the second the transport version eleven years later. Both schemes carry the full fuselage serial as well as the two-digit number repeated on the fuselage, so they can be told apart on a model even without further documentation.
The sheet is an accessory for a finished kit, which the modeler buys separately, and does not replace it. It can be used only for the size given in the name, because in another scale the artwork would fit neither in size nor in the position of the lettering on the fuselage.
