A turned metal barrel in 1:48 scale from the Polish firm Aber. It is not a model but an accessory that replaces the plastic barrel of a kit. The metal execution gives an exactly round profile with no glue seam and a clean muzzle, which on the long slender L/60 barrel is particularly effective.
The 5 cm KwK 39 L/60 was a German long-barreled tank gun with a barrel length of 60 calibers. It was the main armament of the later versions of the Pz.Kpfw. III medium tank, specifically the Ausf. J (late), L and M, which markedly raised its performance against enemy armor compared with the shorter L/42.
Cut off the plastic barrel and clean up the seat, then fit the metal one and fix it with super glue. Degrease the metal before gluing, apply a primer suitable for metal and only then the top color. The slender L/60 barrel comes into its own with a subtle late filter and light wear.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
