Turned metal 76.2mm ZiS-5/F-34 barrel for the late KV-1 and the T-34/76 in 1:48 scale from Aber. A replacement barrel, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a precisely turned metal barrel of the Soviet 76.2mm ZiS-5 gun (the F-34 version) for models of the late KV-1 heavy tank and the T-34/76 medium tank in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but a replacement part taking the place of the plastic barrel from the original kit. The metal barrel has no parting seam from gluing two halves together, it has a perfectly round profile and a realistically hollowed muzzle. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber.
The Soviet 76.2mm model 1940 F-34 gun and its related ZiS-5 version were the main armament of the T-34/76 and late KV-1 tanks in the Second World War. It was a powerful general-purpose weapon with good anti-armor and high-explosive performance. The long thin-walled barrel is a striking feature of both tanks.
Cut the plastic barrel off the model and fit the metal replacement. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy. Spray the metal surface with a primer before painting, so that the paint holds. The barrel muzzle comes into its own with a gentle darkening.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
